Marianne Beate Kielland was born in 1975 in Norway. She graduated from The Norwegian Academy of Music in 2000, studying with Svein Bjørkøy and Ingrid Bjoner. She has also studied with Oren Brown and Barbara Bonney, and she took part in master classes with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.

Marianne Beate Kielland is established as one of the foremost singers of Scandinavia, and she is one of few Scandinavian singers who has received a Grammy nominated for their vocal performances.

She has built an unusually vast concert repertoire that spans music from the early 17th Century works of Monteverdi, via Bach, Händel, Vivaldi, Gluck, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Berlioz, Wagner, Dvorak, Elgar, Mahler, Schönberg, Berg, Weill, Berio, up to contemporary works of Cage, Stockhausen, Berio, Ratkje and Plagge, and her stunning ability to switch styles and perform the music correct according to its time, is highly appreciated by both conducters, performers and audience.
