Eivind Holtsmark Ringstad - viola

Eivind Holtsmark Ringstad
began to play the violin as a five-year-old, and switched to the viola when he was 14.

He is now a student at the Barratt Due Institute of Music, with Soon-Mi Chung as his teacher. He has had a number of solo appearances and in 2008 he and his quartet won the first prize in both the Chamber Music Competition in Nebraska and the Sparre Olsen Competition.

In 2010 he won the Youth Musical Championship as a soloist and in 2012 he won first prize in the highly prestigious Eurovision Young Musician i finale in Vienna. He has played at a number of important festivals and was also invited to the Oslo Chamber Music Festival in 2012.

In October 2013 he made his solo debut with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, where he played Sinding's Suite conducted by Eivind Aadland.
