Atle Sponberg - Violin

Atle Sponberg
has made a name as one of the most interesting Norwegian violinists today. He is active as a soloist, a chamber music player and orchestra leader, and has toured Norway and travelled to festivals all over Europe, in the USA and in Australia. He has performed as a soloist with all the major Norwegian orchestras, and worked with conductors like Rolf Gupta, Ari Rasilainen, Walter Weller and Andrew Manze. As a chamber music player he has visited festivals in England, Ireland, Finland, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, The Netherlands , Australia and Norway. Sponberg has made a number of recordings. In 2012 he toured in Australia, as soloist in concerts in connection with the Australian Festival of Chamber Music. One of his great passions is Argentinian tango, which he studied in Buenos Aires with the violin legend Soares Paz, the highlights so far being Piazzolas The Seasons with the Trondheim Soloists and a tango concert with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and the Argentinian singer Julia Zenko. Sponberg ia artistic director for the professional orchestra Gjøvik Sinfonietta, leader of The Norwegian Radio Orchestra, and plays tangos in a number of ensembles. He is now Associate Professor at the Music Conservatory in Tromsø.
