Collaboration with Nico Widerberg
This year, the Oslo Chamber Music festival’s visual profile is built round Nico Widerberg’s paintings. The artistic board wished to re-establish the tradition of collaboration with an artist. For the first 20 years of the festival, pictures by Jacob Weidemann, Frans Widerberg, Håkon Bleiken, Kjell Erik Killi Olsen, Jens Johannessen and Håkon Gullvåg were, in fact, used both on posters and on the front page of the festival programme.
“ Nico is a very distinctive artist, who belongs to my generation, and who I have known for a long time. He was a natural first choice for us, especially because several of his themes match the festival’s sub-theme this year, which is “portraits.”. We are delighted that he has responded so positively to our requests.”
Håvard Gimse , Artistic director
The pictures which the festival has borrowed are from the art- folder “ Baggage”, a collaborative project between Nico Widerberg and Lars Saaby Christensen dating from 2008.
