Daniel Thorell er cellist fra Stockholm, Sverige. Selv om han bare er 22 år gammel, har han allerede hatt stor suksess som solist og kammermusiker, både nasjonalt og internasjonalt. Hyllet for sin modne og uttrykksfulle musikkskaping blir han for tiden ansett som en av Skandinavias mest lovende unge cellister. Han er førstepremievinner i ikke mindre enn ni internasjonale konkurranser, særlig Rovere D’oro (2017) hvor han også ble tildelt gullmedalje. I mai 2019 var han en stor prisvinner i den 54. Markneukirchen International Cello Competition. Han er også vinner i sjette sesong av La Classe d’Excellence de Violoncelle, med prof. Gautier Capucon.
Daniel ble født i en familie av musikere og begynte å spille cello i en alder av fem. Han debuterte som solist i en alder av elleve år og utførte Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto i a-moll med det svenske radiosymfoniorkesteret. Siden den gang har han opptrådt jevnlig som solist med orkestre rundt om i Sverige inkludert Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Göteborgs symfoniorkester. Sesongen 19/20 inkluderte forestillinger som solist som spilte Rococo-varianter, Schumann Cello Concerto, Elgar Cello Concerto og Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto, samt kammermusikk i festivaler rundt om i Skandinavia og Tyskland. Han er mottaker av en rekke stipend fra stiftelser som SWEA International Scholarship for the arts og Royal Swedish Academy of Music og mer.

Daniel Thorell is a cellist from Stockholm, Sweden. Although he is only 22 years old, he has already enjoyed great success as a soloist and chamber musician, both nationally and internationally. Acclaimed for his mature and expressive musicality, he is currently regarded as one of Scandinavia’s most promising young cellists. He is a first-prize winner in no fewer than nine international competitions, notably Rovere D’oro (2017), where he was also awarded a gold medal. In May 2019, he was a major prize-winner at the 54th Markneukirchen International Cello Competition. He is also the winner of the sixth season of La Classe d’Excellence de Violoncelle, with Prof. Gautier Capuçon.
Daniel was born into a family of musicians and began playing the cello at the age of five. He made his debut as a soloist at the age of eleven, performing the Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto in A minor with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Since then, he has performed regularly as a soloist with orchestras across Sweden, including the Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. The 2019–20 season included solo performances of the Rococo Variations, Schumann’s Cello Concerto, Elgar’s Cello Concerto and Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto, as well as chamber music at festivals across Scandinavia and Germany. He has received a number of scholarships from foundations such as the SWEA International Scholarship for the Arts and the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, amongst others.
