It's an honour to be able to bring three of the concerts at this year's Chamber Music Festival to historic Gamle Aker kirke. Oslo's oldest standing building has finally been reopened after renovation, and we're celebrating with three atmospheric evening concerts;
What could be better than an encounter with Johan Sebastian and Anna Magdalena Bach in Gamle Aker Church? This evening, we're serving up one of Johan Sebastian's more famous but less frequently performed works, namely Das Musikalische Opfer, arranged by Wolfgang Plagge with incomparable musicians: Eldbjørg Hemsing, Nils Mönkemeyer, István Várdai and Mariangiola Martello. We will also get to know works from Anna's notebook, performed by Ole Christian Haagenrud.
VETRA is Ragnhild Hemsing's latest artist project, in which she has selected a collection of Lindeman's drawings from Valdres, in addition to using her own songs. Several of the pieces are arranged by Tormod Tvete Vik. Hemsing is joined on the project by exciting and talented improvisation musicians such as Mathias Eick on trumpet, Steinar Raknes on bass and nature's percussionist, Terje Isungset. Is there anything more beautiful than the sound of a brass quintet in a medieval church? It's a great pleasure to invite you to a late-night concert with Stockholm Chamber Brass in Gamle Aker kirke, the brass quintet described in the American Record Guide as ‘I cannot imagine that a better brass quintet has ever existed’. They bring an exciting and atmospheric programme - a beautiful mix of music from our time and from ancient times. The concert's main works are Lingua Ignota – Hildegard von Bingens secret language. The texts about Hildegard von Bingen are read by Greta Andersberg. Welcome!
