An evening with Eldbjørg Hemsing, Danby Choi and Quartetto Rilke

Oslo Chamber Music Festival presents Etterklang – a concert series in an extra relaxed setting! On Friday 14th, Saturday 15th and Monday 17th August, we’ll be taking over Kafé Haakon to unwind after long and exciting days of concerts. Here we create a meeting place for musicians and audience, with both conversation and music in an intimate setting.

Here, anything goes – whether you want to chat, comment or just listen, whilst the musicians play shorter, well-known pieces.

This evening, Eldbjørg Hemsing will be in conversation with Danby Choi to discuss the role of classical music today, whilst Quartetto Rilke provides the music. Danby gives us a taste of the evening’s theme:

– Classical music doesn’t need to adapt to the future – it is already the future we long for. Whilst pop music gives us the polished, yet also the mindless, classical music gives us the human. Not the human in the sense of the imperfect or fallible, but the opposite: the impressively perfect that not even robots can manage to create. Art beats the artificial every single time. I want to help more people realise this, and hope we can inspire you at Oslo Chamber Music Festival!
