Bratsjisten Ida Bryhn er fra Oslo og fikk sin første musikkopplæring ved Barratt Due Musikkinstitutt. Fra høsten 2013 begynte Ida sitt engasjement som professor ved Royal College of Music i London samtidig som hun startet å undervise på Barratt Due. Ida fungerer som solobratsjist i Det Norske Kammerorkester og gjester også jevnlig Australian Chamber Orchestra og Amsterdam Sinfonietta. Ida er i tillegg kunstnerisk leder i Gloppen Musikkfest.
Ida har jobbet som solobratsjist i Philharmonia Orchestra i London under sjefsdirigent Esa Pekka Salonen. Med Philharmonia har hun turnert verden rundt og gjestet de fleste store konsertsaler i Europa og USA. Hun har gjestet en rekke festivaler i Norge og i utlandet. Bla. Verbier festival, Ravinia utenfor Chicago, IMS Prusia Cove, Risør kammermusikkfestival, Oslo kammermusikkfestival, Ultimafestivalen, Festspillene i Bergen, Hardanger og Elverum samt vinterfestspillene på Røros. Ida har også gjesteopptredener med the Razumovsky ensemble i London, Diamantensembelet i København og London Philharmonic‘s kammermusikkserie i Wigmore Hall. Som solobratsjist har hun gjestet Stockholmfilharmonien, Oslofilharmonien, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Camerata Nordica og Kringkastingsorkesteret i Oslo.
Hun har holdt mesterklasser ved Royal College of Music i London, Accademie Musicale de Morges i Sveits, Göteborgs universitet, Hanoi State Academy, sommerkurs på Voksenåsen og Valdres Sommersymfoni. Ida har vært solist med flere norske orkestre, bla Oslofilharmonien og KORK. Som fulbrightstipendiat har Ida studert ved New England Conservatory i Boston med Kim Kashkashian som lærer. Hun har mottatt støtte fra Wilhelmsens stiftelse og Norge- Amerikaforeningen. Ida Bryhn ble tildelt Shellprisen i 2008. Hun spiller på en bratsj laget av brødrene G&F Grancino fra ca 1665 lånt til henne fra Sparebankstiftelsen Dextra Musica.
Violist Ida Bryhn is from Oslo and received her first musical training at the Barratt Due Institute of Music. Since the autumn of 2013, she has served as a professor at the Royal College of Music in London, while also teaching at Barratt Due. Ida is principal violist of the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and is a regular guest with both the Australian Chamber Orchestra and Amsterdam Sinfonietta. In addition, she is the artistic director of Gloppen Musikkfest.
Ida has held the position of principal viola with the Philharmonia Orchestra in London under chief conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen, with whom she toured extensively and performed in most of the major concert halls across Europe and the United States. She has appeared at numerous festivals both in Norway and abroad, including the Verbier Festival, Ravinia Festival outside Chicago, IMS Prussia Cove, Risør Chamber Music Festival, Oslo Chamber Music Festival, Ultima Festival, Bergen International Festival, and festivals in Hardanger, Elverum, and Røros.
Ida has also performed with the Razumovsky Ensemble in London, the Diamant Ensemble in Copenhagen, and the London Philharmonic’s chamber music series at Wigmore Hall. As guest principal violist, she has played with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Oslo Philharmonic, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Camerata Nordica, and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK).
She has given masterclasses at the Royal College of Music in London, Académie Musicale de Morges in Switzerland, the University of Gothenburg, Hanoi State Academy, and summer courses at Voksenåsen and the Valdres Summer Symphony. Ida has also performed as a soloist with several Norwegian orchestras, including the Oslo Philharmonic and KORK.
As a Fulbright scholar, Ida studied at the New England Conservatory in Boston with Kim Kashkashian. She has received support from the Wilhelmsen Foundation and the Norway-America Association, and in 2008 she was awarded the Shell Prize. She plays a viola made by the G&F Grancino brothers, c. 1665, generously on loan from Sparebankstiftelsen Dextra Musica.
